My first attempt out on a "motherly" voyage was totally kaboshed by emotions last week. I think you may get a laugh out of this...at least I hope you do! I was not laughing at the time, but now I find this as my most hilarious pregnancy tale.
I was bored last week so I thought I would venture over to Babies R Us..."just to take a peek..." So I drove down there, parked in the "Expecting Mothers" space and hopped into the store. I was excited to see all the stuff and start putting a master list together. So, the saga begins...
Walking into that place is like walking into an enourmous candy store...where do you start? I looked row by row...breast pumps (like 10 of them), baby blankets...to swaddle or not to swaddle...pacifiers (I swear there were 20 different kinds). I looked at monitors and rattles and toys and...goodness 500 other gadgets and gizmos I had NO IDEA what they were used for.
At this stage I'm getting slightly overwhelmed.
I walked over to the strollers - I mean, we need a double stroller, how hard could that be? There are tandems and side-by-siders and brown, green, pink, beige...there are lots of them. Then the carseats, then the pack n plays...uf-da. I was about cashed at this point...I thought just a little bit more, the cribs are right there...and hey, they are on sale!
I touched a crib, and that was it. My heart was pounding, my head was beating...there was no way I could stop the tears from flowing. I was utterly overwhelmed and my world was spinning. I needed a chair, an arm, a bench...something. But all I could do was grab my sunglasses to hide the fact I was crying like a baby myself, and speedwalk back to my car. Wheww...safe.
I then proceeded to drive to Hyvee (a grocery store) and buy a King Sized Snickers. I ate that in about 3 bites, and then sobbed a bit more (like 10 min more)...picked myself up and went back inside for some grocery shopping. Wow! Moral of this story...DON'T go to Babies R Us alone. Ever.

Out of Body Experience
I've always wondered what it felt like to feel a baby moving in a mom's tummy...from the outside. I've felt it once, thanks to close friends...but, you guessed it we can feel the little ones moving!
This past Monday, after Karl got home from work, we were sitting at the dining room table just catching up from the day. My arm was resting on my belly (which isn't all the big yet...) and all of a sudden my arm jumped! I was shocked - was that a spasm or was that Baby B?! I kept feeling and sure enough I could feel Baby B moving around! Amazing, absolutely amazing!
Being we want to keep them on the same schedule, I tried to wake Baby A up, and get him/her going too...wasn't too easy, but after a few pokes they were both moving all over the place! God is so good - it's incredible to feel life inside you...having fun! All is good besides that, we're getting ready for a busy fall...seems like every weekend is booked, but we're still enjoying just jumping in the car and going...in less then 5 minutes!
